In John 5:39, Jesus said, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

THE WORD OF GOD HELPS US TO FIND THAT PATH

The story is told of a college professor who visited the Fiji Islands. Being agnostic, he critically remarked to an elderly chief, "You're a great leader, but it's a pity you've been taken in by those foreign missionaries. They only want to get rich through you. No one believes the Bible anymore. People are tired of the threadbare story of Christ dying on a cross for the sins of mankind. They know better now. I'm sorry you've been so foolish as to accept their story." The old chief's eyes flashed as he answered, "See that great rock over there? On it we smashed the heads of our victims. Notice the furnace next to it? In that oven we formerly roasted the bodies of our enemies. If it hadn't been for those good missionaries and the love of Jesus that changed us from cannibals into Christians, you'd never leave this place alive! You'd better thank the Lord for the Gospel; otherwise we'd already be feasting on you. If it weren't for the Bible, you'd now be our supper! The light of God's Word had changed their path!

People are looking everywhere for instructions on how to live.

There are millions of "How To.." books sold every year.

Most of them are a case of the blind leading the blind.

However, God's word has the direction you need for your life.

You don't need to call 1-900-PSYCHIC!

SOMETIMES WE DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT HAS TO SAY

Let Your Light Shine

Ephesians 5:8-9
For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light, from the Lord and your behavior should show it. For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

Christ is the ultimate symbol of light. He brought hope and salvation to a dark and sinful world. As a child of God, it is important to follow the example of Christ, to become beacons of light to those around us.

In the beginning, the earth was empty and cloaked in darkness. God said, "Let there be light" and God saw that it was good. He then separated the light from the darkness. Light is necessary for visibility. Without light, how would you know what direction you were going? Light ushers clarity. For someone stumbling in the darkness, the light of a new day can definitely bring hope. Light also emits warmth and brings security. Light can be very calming in the midst of darkness.

As Christians, we can shine our lights by being patient, loving, giving, caring, kind, and joyous. We should not be judgmental or easily angered. Living a life that is holy and righteous are definite ways to shine brightly to others. Learning to live in the light of God's love puts all things into perspective.

Christians act as lighthouses for sinners; those lost in darkness of sin, to those who are hurting. We need to realize that our lives are constantly being watched and scrutinized by the believer and the unbeliever. Many are counting on our lights to help lead them to safety, to show them the way to hope, change, deliverance, and salvation. It is imperative to keep your light burning brightly at all times. Sometimes you are the only light someone may see. You are the only smiling face, the helpful hand, the kind word.

A light without its source of power is useless, but when it's connected to God, the true power, it will emit radiant light that burns brightly. Always stay tapped into the source. Guard your reputation, do what is pleasing unto the Lord, and emit the light of Christ.

I have been a Christian for 18 years. I am one of the Sunday School teachers at our local church. I enjoy Bible study and growing in the knowledge of God's word. My Christian friends and I enjoy writing Bible studies for one another and I would like to share them with others.
